Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

At Prix Futé, we take the protection of your data seriously. This page describes how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

What data we collect

Your email address and a password (or your sign-in provider) to create your account. Your location, with your permission, to show you the grocery stores and prices near you — we never keep your precise GPS coordinates: only your city and region. Your searches, your barcode scans and your contributions (reported prices, reviews, out-of-stock reports) to operate the comparison service and the gamification (carrots, levels, badges).

If you turn on in-store "validation missions", we detect your proximity to a partner store (never your exact GPS position) in order to send you a mission. This is a separate feature, with separate consent, described in detail at the moment you turn it on.

For free accounts, the app shows advertising served by Google AdMob. Google then receives an advertising identifier specific to your device and technical information (model, language, country). Futé+ and Futé Family accounts show no advertising and send nothing to Google.

Why we use it

To show you the right prices in the right place, tailor your results to your region, operate the grocery lists and price alerts, improve the reliability of the comparison service through community contributions, and understand how the app is used (which screens, which features) in order to improve it.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data, to anyone. We share only what is necessary with our infrastructure providers (cloud hosting) and, if you subscribe, with Apple or Google to handle your subscription billing.

If you use a free account, we share with Google AdMob what it needs to display an ad: a device advertising identifier and technical information. Google acts here on its own behalf, not as our processor. You can decline personalized advertising at any time — you will then see non-targeted ads, and the app works exactly the same.

Retention and security

Your information is kept for as long as needed to provide you with the service, on protected servers, with access limited to the strict minimum within our team.

Concretely: a detected store visit is erased after 30 days (once summarized into your visit habits — store, frequency, typical day and time — which are themselves reset if you do not return to that store for 12 months); the history of notifications you have already read is erased after 90 days; a device token for notifications that has been inactive for 180 days is erased; an expired password reset link is erased after 7 days. Your account, your contributions and your reviews are kept for as long as your account exists.

Your rights

Under Law 25 (Quebec) and PIPEDA, you can at any time ask to view, correct or delete your personal information by writing to us at [email protected]. You can also delete your account directly from the app.

What happens when you delete your account

We erase entirely: your history of visited stores, your points and badges, your grocery lists, and your notifications (including the tokens used to send you alerts).

We keep, but with no link to you: your product reviews and the prices you reported to the community. Once your account is deleted, these contributions remain useful to everyone (a product’s average rating, the price seen in store), but nobody — ourselves included — can tie them back to your identity.

We keep, in order to comply with the law: an anonymized audit log (36 months), which no longer contains anything that could identify you.

It is irreversible: once the deletion has been processed, we cannot undo it.

Cookies and audience measurement

The website uses functional cookies (session, language preference). The app does not use cookies as such, but your device's advertising identifier is used for the ads shown to free accounts.

The website uses no advertising cookie. The app shows Google AdMob advertising to free accounts: your consent is requested on first launch, before any personalized advertising, and on iPhone the system additionally asks for tracking permission. Declining has no effect on how the app works — you see non-personalized ads. You can change this choice in your phone settings.

Minors

Prix Futé is intended for an audience aged 16 and over. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has sent us information without your consent, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be flagged to you in the app.
